Happy New Year

Here's to new beginnings!

Keep on beginning and failing. Each time you fail, start all over again, and you will grow stronger until you have accomplished a purpose – not the one you began with perhaps, but one you’ll be glad to remember. -Anne Sullivan

New Food Fridays

Cooking is something I do out of necessity. Part of my job as a stay at home mom, but when the hubs recently commented that he wished I would use the stove more often... Well I guess I need to step up my game. There are so many amazing food blogs Tartelett and Six Sisters Stuff both have tons of inspiration.
These are two that I must try.

Titus 2:4-5 says  Then they (My Mom) can urge the younger women to love their husbands and children, to be self-controlled and pure, to be busy at home, to be kind, and to be subject to their husbands, so that no one will malign the word of God.  I want to be a woman of God and this is one way I can show my family that I love them. We all have busy schedules, kids, school, work, t-ball, dance, church and on and on. I am looking for quick, family friendly, healthy recipes. If you have a favorite recipe that covers all or one of the three. I would love for you to share it with me. I have 51 weeks to fill.

For my first New Food Friday I decided to make something that would get me a five star rating, a guaranteed success. S'more Pie inspired by a Disneyland favorite...

1 box brownie mix baked according to the directions. When the brownies are done top them with marshmallows and put them under the broiler until they are golden brown. Heat up some hot fudge and pour it all over the top. Finally crush up some graham crackers and sprinkle it on the top. We used pieces of gram crackers to scoop up the gooey mess.

Under the broiler getting gooey.

It was a hit and everyone wanted s'more!

Handmade Ornament Exchange

Handmade Ornament Exchange @ Chase the Star

 I love tiny things...

dogs, toys, and food.

And that includes ornaments! I had a great time creating this miniature gingerbread birdhouse for Tiffani @ craftinterrupted.com. I think the best part was creating the little wreath on the front and the tree for the back.

The next best thing about the ornament exchange was
coming home to find a package on the front porch...

I love it. The Boy thought it was for him.
I think it is the perfect ornament for our family - baseball with a little bling.
Can't wait to check out what everyone else got.

Merry Christmas!

The Medallion Book Page Wreath

Here is a little sneak peak of the BPW (book page wreath) that I crafted this weekend for my sister-in-love and brother. I couldn't wait until the morning to post a picture. I am calling it The Medallion BPW. There is a little bit of glitter, a monogram and a bunch of tattered and torn book pages. A full photo and tutorial coming soon.

A Giveaway!

My Top 5 Book Page Wreath Designs

My Brother and his wife are celebrating their first wedding anniversary this week and I wanted to make them a gift so I googled (doesn't everyone do that?) what is the anniversary gift for the first year of marriage?  Wiki Answers gave me a modern and traditional list that you can find here. The traditional gift is paper. The modern gift is in a post comming soon. Well that is very broad topic so to help me narrow it down my sister-in-love is an english teacher and avid reader so I thought why not make her one of those book page wreaths that I have seen on all the blogs. So after googling (is that a word yet?) book page wreaths I've narrowed it down to my top five. And here they are in order of what will take me the least amount of time...

Number 1.
The Folded BPW.
This one is from a Pottery Barn catalogue.
Three different books of different color and size make for a very relaxed and simple wreath.
I love that it doesn't look overworked.

Number 2.
The Medallion BPW.
What girl doesn't love a little glitter and sparkle., plus I can see their monogram going right in the middle of the medallion.

Number 3.
The Punched BPW.
I love this one because it looks so light and airy. I also think it would look great with a leaf shape for fall.

Number 4.
The Rolled Jute BPW.
I have made this wreath as a gift for a good friend before and it is really stunning in person, but it just takes way too much time and I only have a couple of days or I would be making her them this one.

Number 5.
The Curly BPW
I love this for so many reasons, it looks like paper ribbon, it looks like wood shavings, and it just looks different from all the others. But from the tutorial I know I do not have the time or equipment needed to make this wreath (insert sad face).

I anyone knows who made these wreaths please let me know so I can give them proper credit. I had these pictures on my computer before there was pinterest. And I just can't remember where they came from.

You will have to check back on Monday to see which one I chose. I just love surprises, don't you?

It's All About The Blue

Rusty Blue
Dusky Blue
Weathered Blue

Love the names of the paint. Bewitching blue, french roast, offbeat green.  I love the photography as well, these are taken from a wonderful blog called Whatever. I want to live where they live, have parties in barns and pick wildflowers from a field. Check out her blog to see this amazing party.

instafriday-St.Patrick's Day Edition

Here are some of the highlights of my week...
This is from the Restoration Hardware catalogue, amazing indigo rugs, ombre towels,
and the best of all a denim and linen upholstered chair.
It is everything I never knew I always wanted!
Alphabet Go Fish...It was kinda funny because I didn't read the directions and had them looking for pairs  when there were actually three of each card. Oooops.

The boy and his new meerkat digger. He is such a sweety pie.
He wanted  digger all wrapped up so he wouldn't get cold.
Finally a little St. Patty's day treat for the kids at Preschool.
I found the Lucky Charms math sheet on Pinterst.
Don't you just love the marshmallows.

instafriday

Ever start the day like this...
Kinda sad, a little blue & nothing is going your way.
Well that was me this morning.
Thankfully, I found my way out from under the rain cloud and had a do nothing sort of day.

Don't underestimate the value of Doing Nothing,
of just going along, listening to all the things you can't hear,
and not bothering. ~Winnie the Pooh

Doing nothing on our scooters,

Just going along,

Listening to happiness,

And not bothering.

Really how can you have a bad day
when you stop and count all of the blessings that are smiling right at you!

Sharing our wonderful Do Nothing Day at these fun parties.

instafriday- Valentine's Edition

I love Valentine's Day...

Flowers are nice.

Candy is always good.

One year I even got an ipod.
This year the gift was time spent alone together.
and when you have three kids being alone is rare.

I love this picture, we were head over heels in love!
Talk on the phone until 3am, midnight drive by's with my girlfriends (stalking), wear his football sweatshirt to bed every night in love.

Young Love
19 years old

This was our 16th Vanentine's Day! We have been together for a long time.
I am not going to lie and say they were all amazing, I mean he totally forgot one year.
But this year it was great, we had a such a wonderful time.

Betwixt and Between Love

We have grown up together and I wouldn't have it any other way.
I can't wait to grow old with my guy.
For me time together is the best gift.

Timeless Love

Happy late Valentine's Day!
